BVS Women’s Choir is based in Brooklyn, New York. The choir originated as an all-female teen group when Founding Director Jessica Corbin was teaching at New York City's F. H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts. When Jessica left LaGuardia in 2001, the choir followed her to Brooklyn, where they continued to grow and perform. As the Bella Voce members began to graduate and move on to college, many decided that they still wanted to sing together, so the choir expanded to include all women ages 18 and up. BVS is now a 45-member multigenerational group dedicated to excellence in choral singing. Our mission is to enrich and educate our members and our audiences by performing a diverse repertoire with an emphasis on contemporary choral composers such as Gwyneth Walker, Elizabeth Alexander, J. David Moore, Joan Szymko, Eleanor Daley, and Abbie Betinis, and by bringing other new and lesser-known works to the community.

We have performed with many choirs in New York City, including the New York Treble Singers, Coro Musa from Japan, Damkören SALT from Sweden, and the Con Brio Women’s Choir from Seattle, and over the past few years, BVS has toured to El Paso, Portland (Oregon), and Seattle. In 2015 BVS made their theatre debut when they performed in the Off-Broadway production of “The Events” at the New York Theater Workshop, and some members also performed in the BOSSS Theatre Festival production of “The Visitors.”

BVS Women’s Choir has three CD recordings available for purchase and on Spotify and Apple Music: Songs of Peace and Love  (2011), Hope (2014), and Faith is the Bird (2016).

BVS is a 501(c)3 organization.
